My Bamboo experiences have been mentioned a lot in my previous entries. I still have a few species still alive. This Bamboo species, Phyllostachys Parvifolia, is one of the hardier bamboo species. In my climate, it also dies to the the ground usually, even though it is on the south side of the house.

Frosty Boo
Bamboo and everything else was frosted over from the fog. I have only a little bit of bamboo here and there, most has died from the harsh winters.
December Green Bamboo
Bamboo is still green into December. Animals like hiding in the bamboo. The best kind to grow in my climate is hardy species from the Phyllostachys genus.
Green Groove Bamboo
I am growing some bamboo in the backyard that has the common name of Green Groove Bamboo. It is also called Phyllostachys aureosulcata ‘Spectabilis’.
Iowa Bamboo
So I am playing with some bamboo now in plant hardiness zone 5, testing various species. This is my Phyllostachys Nuda after some very cold weather: This Evergreen Grass is not so evergreen anymore. As long as the rhizomes survive the winter, it should come back up next spring.
