Bumper Crop Acorns
A Bur Oak tree in the goat pasture has produced a lot of acorns. The goats have enjoyed eating them. Some have fallen over the fence in the corn field, where the goats can not reach them.
Brown Bur Oak
Some old Bur Oaks(Quercus macrocarpa) have been dying lately from disease, possibly from Bur Oak Blight. They are making room for young trees to take their place.
Large Red Oaks
There is only two native Oak species growing in my area. The Bur Oak and the Red Oak both grow here. In general, Bur Oaks can be large or small, there is some scrub genes running through these prairie trees. The Red Oaks seem to all grow to a large size if given enough time.
