I have paulownia I thought was a catalpa. Eventually I learned that it is paulownia. I raised 12 from seed. All died except one during the first winter in central Illinois. One came back from the root. I wrapped it the next winter, survived. It is 20 years old now, suffers severe winter damage. It sets flower buds every year but bloomed only three times.
Sounds like you had a little better climate than my situation, if I could have it flower every once and awhile that would have been worth it to me, but I’ve only gotten flowerbuds once and those stems were winterkilled. But I do love the huge leaves.
Came up wild at out home; Love It; Tell me more about it please.
Mine eventually died, so didn’t like my weather.
