Spider Beech

It looks like a Garden Spider is protecting my Purple Beech.

There has been a large population of these spiders this summer.

I took stem cuttings of a Sorbaria this spring.

The plants actually are flowering already.

The Common Reed is starting to head out.

The color is reddish in the early stages, but will later change in color.

I found a Pigweed that had some variegation on it.

Some weeds look more attractive than others.

The Golden Hops has found the Giant Miscanthus to climb on.

This perennial vine suckers and comes up all over.

Surprise Lilies leaf out in early Spring, but later the leaves disappear.

Now the flowers have come up from seemingly out of nowhere.

Sometimes I come across unusual looking insects.

The fuzzy-looking American Dagger Moth Caterpillar looks fun to touch, but the hairs can cause skin irritation.

Castor Bean plants are one of the most ornamental foliage plants that can be grown.

These are fast growing annual plants in my location. The only downside is that they are toxic.

Thistles are attractive to many animals.

Swallowtails are frequently seen among thistle patches.
