Deep Reflections

This vernal pool has kept water in it all year.

With all the rains, the depth has consistently been 6 feet deep.

Jagged Ambush Bugs are mating while finding pollinating insects to kill.

They were wandering around on a Hydrangea bush.

There are many different species of Sunflowers to grow.

Some are vigorous, perennial plants with small flowers.

Hairy Yucca is a cultivar of the Yucca plant.

The stems have a very unique look.

Sap Beetles have been the biggest pest to fruit this year.

Hordes of them have been found in fruit.

The Tomato harvest is in full throttle now.

When there are too many tomatoes, even the goats get fed some.

The seedy Concord Grapes are starting to ripen.

I haven’t done much with them since they need processing.

A Tree Frog is in a good position to get a meal.

It is among the Mexican Bamboo flowers, waiting for pollinating insects to fly by.

There was a lot of Sunflower heads produced in the garden.

The kernels inside the seed shells are a tasty treat.

The first figs are starting to ripen on my Brown Turkey Fig tree.

This tree grows in a container and I bring it back inside in late fall.
