Alder Spring

The various species of Alders on my Oasis have awakened with some warmer weather.

This is my best looking Black Alder.   Most of them have succumbed to various problems, the main one being major sunscald problems I think.

My young Gray Alders have attractive female cones developing this spring.

The reddish cones will turn brown by fall.

Fool’s Gold

This Witchhazel cultivar continues to hold onto its flowers through the cold weather, whether spring is here or not.

The benefit of growing a cultivar is larger and more noticeable flower display.

Tree Surgery Inspection

The cat is looking over my current tree project.

I detached one of the trunks on my Purple-Leaved White Birch clump.  Hopefully I can create a new tree when I plant this section elsewhere.

Witchhazel Flowers

Witchhazel is an early flowering shrub and it can be common to see snow while they bloom.

There are many different cultivars selected for their flower color.

Pond Water Levels

This little vernal pond has been a permanent pond for the past couple years.

When the weather eventually becomes drier, this pond will dry up again during late summer and fall.

Everchanging Colors

The Inferno Willow’s branches change color during different seasons of the year.

Now that it is close to spring, the fiery colors of fall and winter are turning a more mellow yellow.
