~Oasis Among the Cornfields~
The Evan’s Cherry is starting to become plentiful on Kleckner Oasis because of all the suckers I am moving.
This is the mother and is full of cherry blossoms. Last year she produced a good crop, so hopefully she starts producing bountiful crops regularly.
Many fruit trees are flowering in my different Orchards around the Oasis.
This Chojuro Pear has flowered for a few years now and I hope will bear fruit one of these times. It is in a young orchard of mine, planted among other Asian Pear cultivars.
Montmorency Cherry and Kieffer Pear are full of flowers, which could be a good sign for fruit this summer and fall.
The snowmelt and spring rains help replenish the vernal ponds that I have built throughout the woods.
This vernal pond seems to hold water better than some of the others.
Most Hostas are well-behaved, but this selection wants to run.
This Hosta doesn’t have a lot of garden ornamental value like some other better known Hosta cultivars, but has found a niche in a more wild setting.
The woods can be a mix of greenery and flowers in spring, but there also be some selections have leaves with vivid colors.
The above are Bleeding Heart and Hosta cultivars with emerging golden leaves, to help brighten up the spring.
The woodlands has come alive from its hibernation and many flowers are currently on display.
This is my first cultivar of the Boxelder tree.
Boxelders are considered trash trees by many, but there are also various cultivars available. The Golden Boxelder is the first cultivar of this species that I am trying.
My young Redbud trees are becoming more reliable for their flowering as they mature.
I started these trees from seed and soon I will have more seed if these flowers turn into pods later this year.
2 of the Carmine jewel Cherry Bushes I have are loaded with a good flower display.
These bushes are getting too big for the little area I gave them. I will have to start pruning them to help control their size, as I thought their height and spread wouldn’t be much more than 6 feet.
The Birches awaken in spring with their catkins.
The catkins will soon fall off and the female cones will start to grow.
