Variegated Spring

There are various variegated plants a person can grow.  Here are some perennial plants I am growing that are beautiful throughout the growing season.

This is Oriental Limelight Artemisia.  From a small plant planted last year, it has grown into a yard wide clump of variegation.  It runs fast and likes our dry Iowa climate.

Variegated daylilies and variegated irises look good, too

Easy growing variegated plants can add a lot of ornamental appeal to a person’s garden.

Cold Birth

Having goats kidding in March can result in cold weather births.

Here is a little baby Alpine goat that came into this world this month and is as beautiful as any:

Welcome to this cold world baby, enjoy!

Beginning Pond Island

Brought the wheelbarrow down to the pond to use for transporting dirt and building an island.

This will be the first pond island on our place.  Hoping to give the Canadian geese a better place to have a nest.

Beaver Ice

I came across a beaver pond covered in ice.

Beaver Pond Ice

This pond has been here for awhile.  The beavers still live here and maintain it, but the trees are becoming less and less to gnaw on, soon they will have to move and let this pond dissolve.

Tornado Lance

I swept through the forest like a tornado, quickly knocking down trees in a block of the woods this month.

This has opened up the canopy, and will create a thicket for the wildlife to use as cover compared to the surrounding open woods.
