Back Too Soon

The Canadian geese come early, ready to stake their spots for the nesting season.

Ice is starting to form on the water again with the recent cold weather.

Another goat kidding season is upon us.

The little ones want my attention.

Encountered a big cottonwood tree on our hike.

The poplar tree is 17 feet in circumference and has a large crown.

This spring has resulted in a new spade for digging.

This Wolverine Spade is larger, stronger, and I have not had to worry about breaking the handle.

Planted Giant Gray Bamboo last year and it was planted close-by, so I could take good care of it. Now it is ready to transplant and move elsewhere.

The top was pretty much destroyed from the cold. It had some nice rhizome spread though. It won’t be Giant anything in this climate.

A Silver Maple(Acer Saccharinum) growing in the ditch has no problem looking strange.

As if the roots are an alien life form, reaching into the stream for sustenance.

Snowmelt continues to run down our hills into the ponds.

For some of my young vernal ponds, that is becoming a very big problem.

Some previous spots that I have built vernal ponds have too much flow going through them.

The Rabbits had trouble getting food this winter because of all the snow we received.

The rabbits took advantage of all the Sumac stems and chewed them to sustain life in winter.

This winter keeps giving me more snow.

I love climbing around on top of snowdrifts, it gives me a different view of the surrounding landscape.

The old bus on our place has become part of an ever-growing snowdrift.

The snow bus is waiting for spring.
