The buck deer has been brutal to this tree and maybe to me, too.

Many trees dot the landscape with their fall color.
Devil’s Walking Stick is a reliable purplish fall color, while Dawn Redwood has a mild hue to it.
White Oak stands out of the crowd.
Eastern Cottonwood can have some yellow in its fall color.
Red Oaks are native here and I can see them easily in fall when most trees are already leafless. They have great fall color.
Chinese Catalpa Bean Pods
The Chinese Catalpa(Catalpa ovata) starts flowering at a young age.
This turns into seedpods that are filled with a lot of viable seed.
Paulownia Growth
Paulownia elongata grows very fast.
From a root sprout, this trunk is two years of growth.
Bamboo Guineas
The Guinea Fowl like sitting around in front of the bamboo and soaking up the Sun.
This bamboo is a running Phyllostachys and is nicknamed Spectacular Bamboo.
September Garden Harvest
A lot of different things were harvested in the garden this September.
It was a great melon year and also had a good amount of potatoes.
Large Sunflower heads were collected for their edible kernels and enough Butternut Squash will be ate this winter.
Wolberry Fruit
The Wolfberry is related to peppers and tomatoes. This plant is a sprawling bush and creates little, orange fruit.
It is more widely known as the Goji Berry.
Tall Grass Prairie
There has been a lot of grasses planted here that grow to a tall height.
They can be fun to hide in.
Parenthood
This spring I got some mantis egg cases.
Now I have seen one of the praying mantises all grown up.
