Strong winds and hail hit during a thunderstorm on August 31, probably the most damaged trees on this Oasis in one event. Most of the Apples fell from the trees prematurely. Tower Poplar Trunk
The Tower Poplar’s trunk is lighter colored than the native Poplars in the area. These fast growing Hybrid Poplars are good for windbreaks, but are not as easy to propagate from stem cuttings as other Poplars.
Grapevine Spotlight
I routinely have to cut back vines on my windbreak trees, such as this wild grapevine on my Blue Spruce(Picea pungens). The birds deposit a lot of seeds and the ground it littered with many small trees and vines.
