Found this dead white shrew this month. Don’t recall seeing a white shrew before.

Baby Snapping Turtle
It has been warm lately and a little snapping turtle was found on the edge of the pond. The snapping turtle liked soaking in the Sun on these warmer March days.
Rabbit Winter Damage
If the rabbit population is not controlled, a lot of damage can happen to young trees. I call these rabbit chew sticks.
Iowa Skink
Interesting things can be found when digging in Autumn. This skink was found in the dirt and was trying to hibernate before it was disturbed.
Local Beaver Gang
There are Beavers in the area, though I shall keep them off my place. They can do a lot of damage to trees. Large Cottonwood trees nearly girdled to death. The beavers built a lodge to live in. A dam built with some tree branches and corn stalks.
Mouse in House
A mouse was in the house and ended up in my bedroom. I tried to trap it and finally was able to attract it with a marshmallow.
American Persimmon Fruit
American Persimmon(Diospyros virginiana) has attractive orange fruits in the tree at this time of the year. Wildlife love the fruit and the goats would eat it, too if given a chance.
Opossum Youth
I found a young Opossum in one of the sheds. The mother must be around somewhere close, too.
Iowa Pelicans
This is the first time I saw pelicans stop on our pond. Hopefully in the future I will have larger ponds that attract them more during their migration.
Spring Migration
Every Spring the skies start to become noisy. Geese and many other birds fly north.
