There were plenty of Canadian goslings on the pond this year. They are growing up and looking like their parents now.

Hinge Cutting Elm
There is an elm tree where I plan to plant fruit trees. Instead of killing it, I did a hinge cut on it. Then it can stay alive and give a little wildlife cover.
New Island
I built an island out of dirt on a small pond. Now I just have to wait for the water levels to go up and hopefully next spring have a goose nesting on it.
Big Deer Rub
Ran into a deer rub on a Hawthorn. The buck deer has been brutal to this tree and maybe to me, too.
Flowering Vines
Vines are some fast-growing, flowering plants. Morning Glories and Firecracker Vines attract hummingbirds to the garden. The Hardy Passion fruit has amazing flowers. It is also known as Maypop and can create edible fruit in milder climates than mine.
Frog Shelter
Tree shelters are sometimes used by wildlife. This Tree frog has found an attractive habitat.
Basswood Treefrog
A tree frog found a nice short-term home. A small hole in a Basswood tree has given shelter to a tree frog and it comes and goes as it pleases. Basswood trees typically develop cavity holes in them and house all sorts of wildlife.
Mourning Cloak Caterpillar
The Mourning Cloak Caterpillar is an unusual caterpillar. This caterpillar looks like a formidable opponent.
Holy Bird
A sapsucker has been putting holes in an elm of mine. Damage isn’t life threatening though and the tree continues to grow fine.
Artificial Goose Nests
I have built some artificial goose nests while the ice is hard and I can work on it. I built this one on an eroded island and the other one is a platform they can fly up on and lay their nest.
