Great Blue Herons usually fly away when they see me. But there is one that hangs around and ignores me while fishing.

Pokeweed Berry Production
One Pokeweed plant can have hundreds, if not thousands of fruit. These perennials die back to the ground every year but come back with a lot of growth and can be the size of a bush.
Iowa Blue Heron
The easiest way to attract Herons on my Oasis is to make more bodies of water. The Great Blue Herons are on of the largest birds in the area and love fishing in the ponds.
More Signs of Beaver
I am noticing a lot of Beaver activity. The hind feet of this Beaver are nearly as long as my hand. Beavers have altered the ground below the water, as can be seen in this pic.
Chinese Dogwood Fruit
There was a couple more Chinese Dogwood fruit on the tree. The fruit was larger and seemed more mature, as it tasted pretty good. Not sure who is eating it, but at least some wildlife like eating this addition to the Oasis.
Meat Eaters
Yellow Jackets have been competing with the cats for their food. There has been a lot more Yellow Jackets this year.
Raising Tree Frogs
My Bigfoot Willow water tubs have attracted adult Tree Frogs. These Frogs have laid eggs and a lot of tadpoles have been in the water. This is the first Tree Frog I have seen that has ventured out of the water.
Beaver Tracks
Beavers have been claiming the pond as their territory. I am finding large foot prints everywhere in the mud.
Big Toad
A huge Toad has been hanging around outside the house. If this Toad isn’t careful, he may get stepped on.
Live or Die
A Great Horned Owl has been hanging around and I am starting to see what it is capable of when hunting for its hungry babies. I am having to get the ducks earlier in at night to save them.
