With cold temperatures and little snow melting, more snow storms keeps adding to the snowpack. Ponderosa Pines(Pinus ponderosa) are getting buried under the snowdrifts that are forming.

Local Beaver Gang
There are Beavers in the area, though I shall keep them off my place. They can do a lot of damage to trees. Large Cottonwood trees nearly girdled to death. The beavers built a lodge to live in. A dam built with some tree branches and corn stalks.
2009 Fall Colors
Norway Spruce, Ponderosa Pine, and White Oak are lined up. Red Oaks are easily spotted in the naked forest.
Tobacco Tree
Tobacco Tree(Nicotiana glauca) is a tall growing plant in the Nicotiana genus. The plant will die when we get freezing temperatures.

Paulownia Fast Iowa Growing Tree
The Paulownia(Paulownia tomentosa) is an unusual tree that has died back to the ground, only to come back stronger now than before. The tree has huge leaves that make me look small.

The Bigfoot Willow grows fast for windbreaks and privacy screens. Fast growing trees are frequently used for these utilitarian purposes.
Mature Ohio Buckeye
This is an old Ohio Buckeye(Aesculus glabra). The buckeye produces a lot of nuts, though not edible for my consumption.
Siberian Elms Disease Resistant
There are many large Siberian Elms(Ulmus pumila) on old homesteads in the area. These trees are very adaptable and are resistant to Dutch Elm Disease.
Shinseiki Asian Pear
This was the first year that my Shinseiki Asian Pear had fruit. The pear has fruit that ripens on the tree and tastes great.
