Daycare
A large Black Cherry(Prunus serotina) rises up above the young Black Locust grove. Black Locusts are a good pioneer species and help other tree species get established in their light shade and feed them through their nitrogen fixing capabilities.
Chinese White Poplar
The Chinese White Poplar(Populus tomentosa) is closely related to the common White Poplar(Populus alba). I wouldn’t be surprised if it suckers someday.
Black Locust Summer Flowers
The Black Locust(Robinia) trees had flowered earlier this year, though there has been a few sparse flowers appearing lately.

American Chestnut Flowering
Chestnut trees flower late, especially this year in early July. The American Chestnut(Castanea dentata) flowers high up in the canopy. The photo above is of a Hybrid Chestnut that has flowers closer to the ground.
Pitlolly Pine & Hybrid Chestnut
The Pitlolly Pines took a big hit last winter, here is one Pitch x Loblolly Hybrid Pine still shaking off the bad winter: In the background is a Hybrid Chestnut tree flowering.
Ginkgo Leaves
Ginkgo trees have unusual leaves. Ginkgo Biloba is a slow growing tree that I like planting for the future. I also have some Ginkgo cultivars that I have added lately.
Oliver’s Lime
Vigorous growth on my Oliver’s Lime: Oliver’s Lime(Tilia Oliveri) is related to the native American Basswood(Tilia americana).
Firecracker Crabapple Fruit
Some apples are forming on the Firecracker Apple tree. These crabapples are said to be red fleshed, soon I shall personally find out.
