Graft Dead, Surprise!
The graft died on a Coral Bark Maple, the result was a Sycamore Maple rootstock. But not any ordinary rootstock, the undersides of the leaves are purple, such as the Purple-Leaved Sycamore Maple(Acer pseudoplatanus ‘Atropurpureum’).
Prairie Crabapple Fruit
Prairie Crabapple trees are full of fruit at this time of the year. The fruit isn’t very tasty, but I’m sure the wildlife like it.
Long Forgotten
Lone Peach
Because of the bad winter that killed the flower buds, the Peach trees didn’t produce a harvest of fruit. Though one lone Peach fruit did appear high up in one of the trees.
Hoptree Flowers
Hoptree appears to be flowering. Though this tree, also known as the Wafer Ash, it entangled with a Morning Glory vine.
Green King Hybrid Elm
The Green King Hybrid Elm was planted 10 years ago, back in spring of 2004. This hybrid tree has grown fast, even though early on it had some bark stripped off the trunk by goats.
Grapevine Spotlight
I routinely have to cut back vines on my windbreak trees, such as this wild grapevine on my Blue Spruce(Picea pungens). The birds deposit a lot of seeds and the ground it littered with many small trees and vines.
Golden White Poplar
Golden White Poplar is easy to notice among the green foliage that surrounds it.
Curly Poplar
I found a caterpillar on my Curly Poplar. The caterpillar wanted to blend in, but this tree is not as green as others.
