More rain came and caused more flooding of the pond. Water rolled over the top of the dam. The Emergency Spillway was going full blast too. The stream knocked out the barbed wire fence. A waterfall was gushing with all the water, too.

Water was everywhere late this month. The water quickly moved and escaped.
Iowa Pelicans
This is the first time I saw pelicans stop on our pond. Hopefully in the future I will have larger ponds that attract them more during their migration.

Snapping Turtle New Year
The snapping turtles are awakening from the long winter and I see them cruising around. The clear water in spring makes them easy to see.

Full of Cold
The water is cold and plentiful right now. . A vernal pool is full of water right now.
Back Too Soon
The Canadian geese come early, ready to stake their spots for the nesting season. Ice is starting to form on the water again with the recent cold weather.
Snowmelt Vernal Pools
Snowmelt continues to run down our hills into the ponds. For some of my young vernal ponds, that is becoming a very big problem. Some previous spots that I have built vernal ponds have too much flow going through them.
