There were plenty of Canadian goslings on the pond this year. They are growing up and looking like their parents now.

New Island
I built an island out of dirt on a small pond. Now I just have to wait for the water levels to go up and hopefully next spring have a goose nesting on it.
Stronger, Tougher
Have been working on the vernal pond in the goat pasture again. I made this pond deeper and the dam higher so it can handle the snowmelt.
Leftover Ice
The snowmelt quickly filled the vernal pools that I had created. The water slowly soaked into the surrounding soil and only ice was leftover.
Vernal Ice
When digging vernal ponds, sometimes the dams are built too low in the wrong place. This year I will have to fix that end with more dirt.
Water Stoppage
The dam in the goat pasture has stopped the flow of snowmelt. This vernal pond is nearly full now.
Artificial Goose Nests
I have built some artificial goose nests while the ice is hard and I can work on it. I built this one on an eroded island and the other one is a platform they can fly up on and lay their nest.
Vernal Pond Construction
I have been using a wheelbarrow when building some of my vernal ponds.
Vernal Pond Saves Water
A heavy rainfall came through in a short time frame and the vernal pond filled up with a lot of water. The water will be slowly released and this helps more water to soak in.
Weeping Willow Water
Weeping Willows look great by ponds, so I planted Queen’s Gold Weeping Willows along the edge of the pond. These willow hybrid trees grow very fast with a lot of moisture.
