I planted some castor beans, sunflowers, and amaranth among each other this year. The castor beans grow to a large size and are quite bold and ornamental in the landscape.

Backyard Island
I was busy mulching branches this year and ended up creating a mulch island in the backyard. The ducks like climbing up on the island and looking for bugs in the mulch.
Frosted Standstill
Winter is a time to relax, everything is at a standstill. Some of these days will be clothed in frost. A closeup of the frost shows the interesting texture.
Thunder Sky
Many of the beautiful cloud formations I see in the sky is when thunderstorms roll through. Or is the case many times, the storms flank us on the sides and don’t get the much needed rain.
Fog Cooler
The Sun is bright and strong in the summer months. Sometimes if we are lucky, we get some fog in the morning that disrupts the Sun’s rays. But eventually the Sun is too strong and the fog is all burned off.
Burnt From the Past
Even though we are moving forward in the new century, things of the past can present itself in the landscape. From a couple miles away, I saw a lot of smoke. This was a prairie burn. Mostly switchgrass and some other warm season grasses in there.
Frosted Calmness
Everything frosted over in the morning, no breeze, but silence. Just me and my new landscape. The slightest breeze starts picking up, and like a domino effect, the frost shatters and falls to the ground.
