Orange Poppy Flowers
The Poppies keep spreading and producing more blossoms each year. The flowers are big and showy, but each blossom doesn’t last very long.
First Fruit of 2016
Honeyberries are always the first fruit to ripen in the year at my Iowa Location. This fruit is quickly turning color and the birds may fly off with it before it is fully ripened.
Iowa Comfrey Seedling
A Comfrey plant popped up outside the fence. This plant has a lot of vigor and is getting tall. My pet cat is there for reference.
Dames Rocket
Dames Rocket is a biennial or short-lived perennial, that has a long flowering season. The above flowers are the common color, but there can be other colors and shades in these plants.
Columbine Persistence
This Columbine plant was bought from Oikos Tree Crops and suppose to live for more years than other similar Columbine plants. So far I have gotten many years of enjoyment out of its flowers.
Oriental Limelight Artemisia
One of the most vigorous Artemisias I grow is the Oriental Limelight Artemisia. This plant has a lot of hybrid vigor, combined with outstanding color.
Mexican Bamboo Versus Brome Grass
Mexican Bamboo has struggled to dominate over the surrounding Brome Grass. Mexican Bamboo has been considered invasive, but not as invasive as the Brome competition.
Hosta Aggression
Most Hostas are well-behaved, but this selection wants to run. This Hosta doesn’t have a lot of garden ornamental value like some other better known Hosta cultivars, but has found a niche in a more wild setting.
Blackberry Snow
The Blackberries continue to keep their green leaves in this mild weather. The melting snow keeps the green in plain view.
