Lettuce Face
I have been growing a lot of lettuce lately. I have three varieties of lettuce in this photo, Oakleaf, Buttercrunch, and Black Seeded Simpson.
Corn Fun
Always is fun when I see variegation in a corn plant. Blue Hopi Corn that I am growing sometimes will have a variegated leafed corn plant.
Giant Knapweed
Giant Knapweed(Centaurea macrocephala) has been growing good and flowering well. Bachelor Buttons(Centaurea cyanus) is an annual relative, that is more common in flower gardens.
Wolverine Spade
This spring has resulted in a new spade for digging. This Wolverine Spade is larger, stronger, and I have not had to worry about breaking the handle.
Iowa Kiwano
I have been growing a melon called the horned melon or Kiwano. It takes a lot of days to mature, so only one was able to turn orange this year.
Niagara Grape
Niagara is always producing good crops of grapes. It has seeds though, so not the best for eating fresh. I did make grape juice out of them though.
Magenta Corn
This is the first time I am trying a couple kinds of parching corn. This is a pretty corn called Magenta Parching Corn.
Castor Bean
I planted some castor beans, sunflowers, and amaranth among each other this year. The castor beans grow to a large size and are quite bold and ornamental in the landscape.
Tomato Hornworms
Tomato hornworms are huge and they turn into a big moth. They can damage tomato plants because they have big appetites.
