Scorzonera has yellow flowers for ornamental appeal. This plant is used as a vegetable, edible leaves and mild roots that can be eaten, too.

Comfrey is vigorous and hard to kill with its strong root system. This plant pictured above wasn’t even planted, it just appeared, whether from a piece of root or plant dropped there or from seed. These tall-growing perennial plants are attractive to such pollenizers as bumblebees.

Kiwano, also known as Horned Melons, have an attractive pattern to their fruit. This fruit needs a longer season, as ripe fruit will be orange, but they are green here when the fall freezes come.

Pepper Final Harvest
I had to harvest the rest of the peppers as freezing temperatures came this month. A lot of the excess is dried and frozen.
Volunteer Jalapeno
Because of all the rains, a volunteer Jalapeno seed germinated and even produced some peppers for me to eat.
