Pear Season Starts
Pears are starting to ripen and I have harvested some for fresh eating. My Stark Delicious Pears and Pineapple Pears are the first to ripen, ripening in the month of August.
Surprise Lilies in Iowa
Surprise Lilies are very hardy and long-lived. They continue to thrive and flower decades after being planted.
2nd Place Finish
Zestar had been my first Apple of the year, but this year it comes in 2nd place. These are great tasting Apples for the early season.
Weeping Asian Pear
My Shinko Pear is loaded with so much fruit, it is starting to weep. This is the first year I will get fruit of this Asian Pear.
Aronia Berries
My Viking and Nero Aronia bushes have been ripening their blue fruit. The berries do not taste good fresh, but the birds are making them disappear.
