Brought the wheelbarrow down to the pond to use for transporting dirt and building an island. This will be the first pond island on our place. Hoping to give the Canadian geese a better place to have a nest.

Hungry For Duck
Looking into the bird yard, I can see we will have a plentiful supply of duck meat this winter. A goshawk thought the same and it landed on one of those posts surrounding the yard, looking to take an easy meal. I quickly scared it off and it was never back to steal my dinner.
Barn Swallows
Our barns attract barn swallows to come back every spring and produce offspring. This nest is starting to get a little crowded. Soon the babies will be flying.
Backyard Island
I was busy mulching branches this year and ended up creating a mulch island in the backyard. The ducks like climbing up on the island and looking for bugs in the mulch.
Fertility Mounds
Spring tends to be a lot of hard work. The barns are cleaned out and it is hauled onto pastures that need fertilized with the manure. The guinea fowl are checking out what bugs they can find by these manure piles. When I have time later, I will spread out the manure.
Catch a Friend
What friend did I catch today? A blue jay that was not fond of the forced friendship. It bit my glove and did not want to let go. This blue jay was happier when the photo was over and I let it go. The bird flew off to find its real friends.
