Hinge Cutting Elm
There is an elm tree where I plan to plant fruit trees. Instead of killing it, I did a hinge cut on it. Then it can stay alive and give a little wildlife cover.
Sun Dog
Sundogs are something I do not see very often. It is too cold outside, so do not get to enjoy this too much.
Frosty Day
Heavy frost covered a lot of the trees. For a short period of time, the frost gives this world a look of fantasy.
Moonglow Magnolia
My small Moonglow Magnolias(Magnolia virginiana ‘Jim Wilson) are still green in the new year. These trees are said to be semi-evergreen. For this climate, that is rare for broadleaf trees.
Winter Bright
The days are short and cold at this time of the year. But the sunsets can give warmth to the sky.
Too Late
It feels too late in the year for the sky to amaze me, but yet it continues to do so. Things slow down in the winter and it seems like I actually notice the sunsets even more.
Bamboo Snowed Under
Bamboo quickly bends under the weight of winter precipitation. Once the snow starts melting, it quickly becomes upright again.
Snow Guinea
The guinea was not sure what to do on a snowy roof. The edge of the roof was perfect without snow, so the guinea’s feet could stay warmer.
New Island
I built an island out of dirt on a small pond. Now I just have to wait for the water levels to go up and hopefully next spring have a goose nesting on it.
